Tata Motors has recently made a significant move in the Indian automotive market by introducing new variants for the Tata Nexon SUV. The Tata Nexon Smart (O), now available in both petrol and diesel options, offers customers more affordable choices in terms of pricing and features.
The Nexon now comes with two engine options – a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol variant provides various transmission choices, including manual and automatic, while the diesel option is available with manual or AMT automatic transmission.
The facelifted Tata Nexon, which made its debut in September 2023, has captured the attention of many with its revamped design and enhanced features. The SUV’s price range starts at Rs 8.10 lakh for the base Smart petrol MT variant and goes up to Rs 15.50 lakh for the Fearless+ S diesel AMT variant. Building on this success, Tata Motors has now introduced new base variants for both the petrol and diesel Nexon models.
One of the new additions is the petrol Nexon’s Smart(O) variant, priced at Rs 7.99 lakh, making it even more accessible to customers. On the other hand, the diesel variant now kicks off from the Smart+ model onwards, with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh.
The introduction of these new variants has resulted in a significant decrease in the entry prices for the Nexon. The Petrol Smart(O) variant is now Rs 15,000 cheaper than the previous base variant, while the base price of the Nexon diesel has decreased by a substantial Rs 1.10 lakh. Moreover, the prices for the Smart+ and Smart+ S variants have also seen a reduction of Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively. The Nexon Smart+ is now priced at Rs 8.90 lakh, and the Smart+ S variant is priced at Rs 9.40 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
The new entry-level diesel variant comes equipped with a range of features, including a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, reverse camera, steering wheel-mounted controls, power windows, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The Smart+ S diesel variant takes it a step further with additional features such as auto headlamps, an electric sunroof with voice assist, rain-sensing wipers, roof rails, and a knitted roof liner.
While specific features of the petrol entry-level variant are yet to be detailed, customers can expect safety features like six airbags, ESP, LED headlamps with DRLs, ISOFIX mounts, and more.
This strategic move by Tata Motors to introduce new affordable variants for the Tata Nexon aims to broaden the appeal of the popular SUV to a wider range of customers, providing them with more accessible options in the competitive SUV segment.
